7/3/16 – Bribery in international business undermines good governance and economic development, perpetuates poverty and distorts international competition.
Ministers from all 41 State Parties to the Anti-Bribery Convention as well as from key partner countries will attend, along with the heads of other international organisations and leaders from private sector and civil society, the OECD Anti-Bribery Ministerial Meeting on Wednesday March 16, at the OECD Conference Centre, 2 rue André Pascal, Paris 16.
Ministers will discuss measures to strengthen international efforts for combating foreign bribery as well as the role of the Convention and the OECD Working Group on Bribery (WGB) in the broader, global anti-corruption framework. They will also discuss emerging issues, in particular:
-whistle-blower protection,
-international co-operation,
-voluntary disclosure and negotiated settlements,
-anti-corruption compliance for business.
The Ministerial will also provide an opportunity to recognise the accomplishments of the first three phases of monitoring of the Convention and to officially launch Phase 4 which will focus more closely on detection, enforcement, corporate liability, and other major topics relevant to adequate implementation of the Convention’s obligations.
