New Channel 4 show My Second Hand Home shows how with some clever upcycling and creative ideas it can be simple and budget-friendly to transform your home. In the first episode of the series, a couple from Wales go against a Newcastle couple to see who can create a better transformation.
Gabrielle and Tom, who live and are from the south Wales valleys, were able to do up their terraced house on an incredible budget. Spending just £848 in total the pair were able to do up and upcycle a vintage desk, a vintage sewing table, mend a vintage bed, buy quality artwork for their home, and much more. After Gabrielle and Tom's improvements, all their goods were re-evaluated and it was announced they made a whopping £1,734 in profit.
As they made more profit than the other couple competing during the first episode on Sunday, August 21, they won their £848 back and it meant they'd renovated their house for free. They will now be using that money on their wedding, which they hope will take place in two years.
