Here’s the latest transfer news and gossip from Cardiff City Stadium for Sunday, August 29.
City eyeing Rotherham striker
Cardiff City are reportedly eyeing a move for Rotherham United striker Michael Smith.
According to The Sun, the Bluebirds could well make a move this week, with deadline day looming.
The 29-year-old striker has just one year left on his current contract at the New York Stadium, and has emerged as a key player for the Millers, having netted 10 times in the Championship last season.
He was also on target over the weekend, bagging a brace in the 2-0 win over League One rivals Doncaster Rovers.
Smith has already been heavily linked with a move to the second tier in this window, with Bristol City and Middlesbrough previously mentioned as possible suitors, although our colleagues at Bristol Live now understand that he’s no longer on the Robins’ radar.
Rotherham boss Paul Warne is seemingly reasonably confident of keeping his star striker, recently telling the Rotherham Advertiser that it would take a “pretty amazing” fee to tempt the Millers into a sale.
One suspects the Bluebirds would only move for Smith should Kieffer Moore move on.

Wolves closing in on Korean striker
Wolves are close to completing a deal to sign RB Leipzig’s Hwang Hee-chan.
According to Sky Sports, the forward has arrived in the West Midlands for his medical ahead of what would be an initial loan move, and could even be in the stands for today’s clash with Manchester United.
The deal will also reportedly include an option to buy next summer, with the proposed fee believed to be in the region of £12m.
The 25-year-old has scored three goals in 29 appearances for Bundesliga side Leipzig since moving from sister club Red Bull Salzburg, where he scored 45 goals in 126 matches.
The move will likely prompt questions over their interest in Cardiff striker Moore, whose future in the Welsh capital remains the source of speculation.
Wolves have allegedly valued the Wales striker at around £7m, a figure that’s unlikely to tempt the Bluebirds into a sale.
Wintle looking forward to getting started at Blackpool
Ryan Wintle says he can’t wait to get started at Blackpool.
Having only joined Cardiff this summer, the 24-year-old has completed a season-long loan move to the Seasiders, having made three appearances for City under McCarthy.
And he admits he’s itching to get out in front of the fans at Bloomfield Road.
Speaking to the club’s official website, Wintle said: “I heard of the interest a couple of days ago and I can’t wait to get going. I know how the gaffer likes to play and I think that suits me down to the ground.
“I came here two weeks ago with Cardiff and the fans were magnificent. I can’t wait to play in front of them.”
