There has been a bidding war to take the television rights of the LIV Golf broadcast, and Greg Norman has a history. Again, LIV Golf is why there is a media fight in the world of sports. Yes, you read it right. A media giant is pulling out big guns to have the media rights.
We all know the saying, ‘Everything is fair in love and war’, and this is war. The CEO of LIV Golf had a history with a media giant, and not a good one. But for the sake of business, they seem ready to forgo their past.
LIV Golf and media
Sports TV broadcasts can make strangers friends too. In today’s case, it’s Fox Sports and the CEO of LIV Golf, Greg Norman. Six years earlier, Fox media fired Norman. According to ‘Front Office Sports’, Fox network is one of the leading competitors in the bidding war for LIV Golf’s U.S. media rights.

Will Staeger is the chief media officer of LIV Golf. He denied any comments on this situation and again left fans puzzled. But thankfully, he talked to ‘Front Office Sports’. He said LIV is in continuous discussion sessions with every major media company for media rights.
Fair indeed. LIV wants exposure and a broader viewership. So definitely, choosing the right sports platform is essential, where the viewers are actually into watching sports.
Greg Norman and Fox media
Last year, Norman was in an interview with FOS (Front Office Sports). He talked about his experience and relationship with the Fox media. The interviewer asked Norman about the rookie mistakes of the Fox media. The question mentioned the ‘15 Open and the mistakes that were made by Fox media’. And Norman was the one to take responsibility for all the errors.
To this Norman replied, “No, I did not, to be honest with you. I felt like I got rolled under the bus. I’m not going to mention names or point fingers at other people. But I definitely fairly and squarely got hammered with that. Pretty hard, unfairly.”

This media right is not the only association of Norman with Fox. Years after getting fired by Fox Sports, he served as lead analyst for SiriusXM’s exclusive audio coverage. It was during the 2021 Masters Tournament. He joined Brian Katrek as an announcer. They were in the radio booth during the tournament on April 8-11, 2021.
