The heatwave that hit us this week is set to continue until this weekend, when some light rain showers will cool things down slightly.
But that knowledge is little comfort for those of us suffering through sleepless nights now, as the heat makes comfortable rest near impossible.
And it is hard work during the day as well, with few places besides a cool shower offering any respite from this wall of heat.

But there are some places across Yorkshire that are at least a little colder than others – in fact while Leeds and Huddersfield swelter in 26C+, some parts of Yorkshire are as ‘cold’ as just 17C this week.
In fact, it’s not good news for those planning a trip to the seaside this weekend, as some of Yorkshire’s beaches will in fact be among the coldest places going.
Filey will be cooling down from Friday, with the day’s maximum temperature reaching a cool 17°C. The cloudy day will be turning to light rain by the early evening, which will see in a much more comfortable weekend.
On Saturday, maximum temperatures will reach 19°C with clouds turning to sunny intervals in the late morning. Sunday will get to 20°C and will see some light showers arriving by lunchtime.
Redcar and Cleveland is set to be much cooler during this week, with Wednesday’s temperatures reaching a maximum of only 19°C.
Thursday will be sunny but will not exceed 20°C, while Friday, Saturday and Sunday will see temperatures drop back down to 17°C and 18°C. The weekend will be cloudy with some light showers to keep things cool.
Whitby will be sunny on Wednesday but temperatures will not exceed 20°C. It will get slighty warmer on Thursday as the temperature creeps up to 22°C but will drop back down to 19°C on Friday.
The weekend will also be cool, with Saturday’s weather overcast and with maximum temperatures of just 18°C. Sunday is set to be brighter but with some showers and a maximum temperature of 19°C.
Scarborough will be similar, with Wednesday’s temperature a slightly lower 19°C but with sunshine all day. Thursday is also set to be a sunny day and maximum temperatures will reach 21°C.
Friday will be a cool 18°C, with Saturday hitting maximum temperatures of 17°C and Sunday not exceeding 19°C.

Sheffield has been really feeling the heatwave this week, though the city will cool down considerably on Saturday. The day will be cloudy with light rain in the evening and maximum temperatures of just 19°C.
Rotherham will also cool down on Saturday, though the town will be seeing some thunderstorms and temperatures of a maximum 20°C.
Doncaster will also not exceed temperatures of 20°C on Saturday, though it will be a dreary and overcast day with some rain showers.
And Barnsley will also be cool on Saturday, with temperatures hitting a maximum of 19°C but creeping back up to 21°C on Sunday.
Leeds is going to be a sweltering 28°C on Wednesday and Thursday, with temperatures falling to 23°C on Friday and 20°C on Saturday.
Sunday will hit maximum temperatures of 21°C and there will be some light showers to keep things cooler, with temperatures creeping back to 23°C on Sunday and thunderstorms set to hit the city.
Oxenhope will be 19°C on Saturday, so another cool spot to head to if you are local and needing some respite from the 26°C heat that will hit on Wednesday and Thursday.
The city of Bradford will also be cool on Saturday, with maximum temperatures of 20°C.
And Huddersfield temperatures will drop to 19°C on Saturday too, with thunderstorms hitting the city on Sunday.
