Staff at a South Yorkshire park were ‘pelted with stones’ after they tried to coax swimmers out of the water.
The police were called to Rother Valley Country Park, in Rotherham, after a large amount of people were in the water.
South Yorkshire Police said that staff had attempted to get swimmers out of the waters – but had had stones thrown at them a result.

In a statement, shared to South Yorkshire Police Twitter page, the forced implored people to “support staff” who were merely trying to keep people safe.

The post, which was shared this afternoon (21/07), read: “Officers have attended Rother Valley Country Park this afternoon in relation to a large amount of people in the water…
“Staff have attempted to coax people out but have had stones thrown at them as a result.
“Please support park staff they are trying to keep everyone safe.”
