Live as Wakefield Road Bradford reopen after child hit by van and air ambulance lands

A major Bradford road closed this evening after a 12-year-old child was hit by a van.

The A650 Wakefield Road was shut at 7pm, the road was closed in both directions but has since reopened.

Emergency services including the Air Ambulance attended the scene, reads Inrix, our traffic management system.

A spokesperson for the force said they attended the youngster has been taken to hospital for treatment after they were hit by a van.

Inrix reads: “A650 Wakefield Road Northbound closed due to accident from New Hey Road to Bowling Back Lane. Traffic is coping well.

“The road has been closed since 19:00. Sensors show the southbound side has been re-opened. An air ambulance was at the scene.”

We have approached West Yorkshire Police for a comment about the incident and we will update this live blog with a comment from the force.
