We are making an effort to put, in the near future, the second turbine with the same capacity of energy production, in order to increase the supply of this good.
The Minister of Energy and Water, João Baptista Borges, announced yesterday the commissioning of the first of two electric turbines in Ondjiva, Cunene province.
The two turbines have the capacity to generate 25 megawatts of power, increasing the power production capacity from 8.9 to 58.5 megawatts.
Cunene province had 11.9 megawatts of power, 8.5 of which came from Onuno station (Namibia) and 3.4 from Ondjiva power plant.
The minister João Baptista Borges, who was speaking on the sidelines of the consignment ceremony of the construction works of Cova do Leão dam, stressed that the new turbine covers the power needs of Ondjiva city, capital of Cunene province.
“We are making an effort to place, in the near future, the second turbine with the same energy production capacity, with a view to increasing the supply of this good,” João Baptista Borges said.
